Dermot Ryan, guiding in Kinsale for over forty years, is founder, secretary and editor of the Kinsale History Society which works to preserve the heritage of this historic town. He has also lead visits to the major heritage sites in Ireland and lectured on Kinsale and Irish history in the U.S. and the U.K. He is also Secretary of the Irish Federation of History Societies, and has organised their visits to Rome and other centres and is a regular contributor to local and national press He is an approved Failte Ireland Guide, a member of the Association of Approved Guides in Ireland, a member of the Heritage in Schools Scheme and the Kinsale Chamber of Tourism.

Information and entertainment is the key to the success of Kinsale Heritage Walks which provide a unique insight into the history and heritage of Kinsale, a town that mirrors the history of Ireland. Dermot's daughter, Deirdre Mullins is also a Failte Ireland guide, a member of the Kinsale History Society and of the Heritage in Schools scheme. As the only other native Kinsale guide she carries on the family tradition of interest in local and national history. A former tourism officer in the Kinsale office and she also has extensive experience in coach tours as well as in the town walks to which she brings her unique perspective as an artist and photographer. Her landscapes are to be found in many collections at home and abroad and she is always ready to advise on the best photo opportunities in Kinsale.
